Trifecta challenge: Week 59

What a cool idea! A writing challenge of a certain length based on a single word, plus its potentially obscure definition! Here’s a link to the challenge, and my offering below:

Timothy’s eyes sparkled in the moonlight as he lit the flame; he knew he was the one, the chosen one, out of the few hundred who had gathered. As he stepped forward in the darkness, he heard an audible gasp reverberate throughout the crowd and what felt like a puff of air as they collectively stepped back. His intention was clear to all: only he could offer himself through such a pious act.

  1. Welcome, new Trifectan! πŸ˜€

I like this piece. I can definitely visualize the scene through your writing.

  2. Welcome aboard! We’re so glad you linked up this week. This is a really great piece. Like the others, it left me wanting more. Way to start out with a bang! Hope to see you back for the weekend challenge.

    1. {takes another bow} Thank you! I look forward to the weekend challenge; I’ll be in San Francisco for a conference, so hopefully will have some new and interesting inspiration (wiggles eyebrows conspiratorially).
