Write at the Merge, Week 8: To Dance Is To Live

This week’s Write at the Merge combines an  image from Degas with a dash of philosophy:

It stands to reason that where there’s sacrifice, there’s someone collecting sacrificial offerings. Where there’s service, there’s someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice, speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the master.
—Ayn Rand

As someone with no sense of rhythm or heart for dance of any sort, I love the philosophy part of this prompt! To that end, I submit this little piece called “To Dance Is To Live:”

Without dance, I cannot live.

Without life, I cannot dance.

Everything I do, see, smell, taste, touch is incorporated into my art.

For it, I give everything; it is all to me.

On a side note, I was further inspired by this story on Tamara Rojo also 🙂

    1. Exactly…I think of so many great artists who have been swallowed by their craft. I admire those who can keep it in the realm of gift and refuse to fall prey to it becoming a burden. Thank you so much for your comment!
