100 Words Writing Prompt #320: Love’s Touch

The one great thing about flash fiction is that by connecting to others you find new and interesting prompts all the time. Deana wrote this fabulous piece over on her page and after reading it I went to visit Velvet Verbosity to see the prompt myself. I wasn’t going to post anything, but I got caught by the closing sentence of the, um, er… invitation:

See you soon word-nerds.

Now, how in the world could I pass that up? It describes me so well, after all! So to that end, here is my 100-word bit which I titled “Love’s Touch:”

Sheryl looked at Mark with what could only be described as love;
she appeared slightly dazed and the corners of her mouth hinted at being turned up.
Mark leaned carefully over her, the arm supporting his body weight
placed in such a way as to not interfere with the wires and tubes
running across the bed;
he knew they didn’t have much time.
Words were not wasted as air in lungs was too precious;
he lightly ran his fingertips over the hair at her temples
because she’d always liked that.
He wanted to remember the sensation of her always,
forever.

      Absolutely! I won’t promise to add it to my list of regulars, but the “word-nerds” got me 🙂 Who knows, I might get hooked 🙂

        This was the first prompt I ever did. Welcome anytime.

          It is certainly a good one! Keep up the great work. And that’s so cool that your honey writes also! Mine is building up to it 🙂

            He should! Lance started years before I did.

    Word-nerds is what I lovingly call the slowly growing army of 100 Words players. Sometimes when I’m feeling overly affectionate, I call them word-nerdlings. None of them have punched me yet. 😉

    Welcome to the challenge!

      Hahaha! I love it! Thank you for the warm welcome!
