Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable. Can I get you something to drink? Iced tea it is. Do you need a table or something to lean on? Oh, okay; you have your yellow pad and pencil ready, I see. Well, let’s begin.
I look up from my pad and pencil and see myself in the mirror, sipping iced tea from my favorite glass.
Today’s Daily Prompt asks the question
If you could have any author –living or dead – write your biography, who would you choose?
I can’t imagine anyone writing my biography; there are so few people (living or dead) who know my full story anyway, and some of those who do/did probably wouldn’t want to tell it. I’ve had my ups and downs like many and I imagine one of two things happening if someone else were to try and write about it:
- The story would get sensationalized and/or
- Stuff would be left out
I would not want either. The boring stuff, or perhaps what I think others would deem as boring, should not be sensationalized. It was what it was (or is what it is…I’m not walking tightropes or anything these days so I’m sure if I were to describe my daily doings I’d put many a reader to sleep…). On the other hand, the bad stuff was also what it was and shouldn’t be left out in order to spare the more sensitive reader. Their choice: suck it up and keep reading, the boring stuff will be back in a moment or simply close the cover and put it back on the shelf. Very simple.
That of course was a long-winded way of saying I guess I’l be relegated to the autobiographical section of the bookstore…
