“So tell me again the purpose of this game?”
He rolled his eyes in that way I hated oh so much. “If it’s played for money, the purpose is to get as much as possible from the other teams. If not, then it’s just to win.” I nodded with a bit of fake enthusiasm, the smile hurting my face; I struggled to remember the names, much less the rules of each, and he hated it. Once, I’d moved to put a card down and changed my mind and he roared, “Hey! You do that in a real game, you could get shot!”
Really?! I could get shot for changing my mind? In the course of a game that is supposed to be for fun? Riiight.
The Daily Prompt asks
What activity, task, or game most brings out your competitive streak?
I haven’t been particularly competitive at any point in my life. I have never been good in sports, tried playing music and that wasn’t it. Was never much for team sports on television either; I am amazed at how much the players make and how much tickets cost to see a game, for which I earn no residuals…
My first husband liked playing cards–I truly couldn’t remember names (I remember Poker but that’s due more to casino conversation…) much less rules. Frankly, I just didn’t care enough to keep track.
Competition? Not so much.
