Minerva looked at the room from over the tops of her designer reading glasses. How could anyone have gotten so much money in 2013 on such a dump, she pondered as she surveyed the mile-high ceilings, stained glass windows, and ornate woodwork in what was the formal dining room. She turned to the new owners and tried to put on a smile. “I am sure we can do something to, um, modernize the entire structure for you.”
“No! You mustn’t touch a thing!” The countess grabbed her husband’s arm. “It is perfect the way it is, darling.”
Dr. Szilagy lovingly patted his wife’s hand. “I know dear.” He approached Minerva and smiled, revealing a set of fangs she hadn’t noticed when he opened the front door. “Our dear realtor here had not seen the inside when she arranged the sale. I wanted her to see where she will spend eternity.”
I absolutely adore Angela’s choices for each week’s photo prompt! This one (and the others on the site from which it came–click the picture to go look!) conjures up so many different delicious possibilities, but I stuck with a round-about on a tried and true vampire tale. The reference to Szilagy comes from the story of Vlad the Impailer, which can be found here.
