Saturday Centus 170 Meets Picture It & Write, 21 July 2013: It Begins and Ends With a Song

I fell into a ring of fire…

The song rang out from some station that had been left on in an office. I’d taken shelter in the bank just before the asteroid hit; I saw the air-raid shelter sign but don’t think anyone else out there knew what it meant. All that was before their time. Now that it was all over, I could still hear the song’s words ringing.

I was tired and the bed seemed like a good idea; now I’ve floated out into this water that I can’t drink. Maybe the world will get right again. Someday. In the meantime, I have to survive.

I’m reading “Lucifer’s Hammer,” a book about a comet that hits earth; my Christopher talked about it some years back and we found a gently used copy on Amazon not too long ago. Before he could get back into it, I swiped it. After I got in a few chapters I was hooked.

So, it stands to reason that, with such inspiration, I would be able to come up with 107 words, especially when both SC and PI&W offered such great supporting material! Click each below to add one or more of your own.

First, thank you so much for getting that song stuck in my head lol. I need my book worm friends to move back close to me so I can swipe books on my TBR list from them.

I liked the unforseen consequence of going to bed. No one thinks they’ll wake up in a pond.

PS I really want that bed.

Haha! Let’s thank Jenny over at Saturday Centus for the song (and the ring of fire imagery too)!

Must be a captivating book. If water survives the fire, I’m sure the world will be right again.

I hope so; there is actually too much water! The comet head broke apart and the pieces have hit in various places; they were large enough to cause multiple tsunamis in various oceans…

  3. The Real Cie July 22, 2013 3:36 pm

Very cool! The team always tries for twofers at the Undead in the Netherworld blog. Nobody managed to twofer this pair, though. 🙂

😀 Thanks, Cie! I enjoy trying mash-ups…if you and the good folks at Undead are ever taking guest posts, feel free to let me know–would love to write a piece for you all 😉

Great way to combine prompts – was a very different water – bed tale! I liked it!

{curtsies awkwardly} Thanks much!! I enjoyed your take on the water bed photo as well!
