Friday Fictioneers 4 October 2013: Where’s a Genie When You Need One?

“You’ve almost got it, dear!”

I didn’t feel like I was even close to mastering these confounded wings; if I were still a woman, I would grimly set my mouth and struggle on. Perhaps take a moment to slap him for getting us into this predicament in the first place. Just a wish he said, want to live on the beach he said. And now this.

“A bit more to the right, love; ouch!”

I hadn’t meant to poke him in the eye but he deserved it. I continued to fight and hoped that I could find a reverse spell.

I so enjoy the beach, having grown up there. However, seagulls were never a fav but I thought to write this 100-word ode in their honor for FF this week. Sort of. Click below to link up!

  1. I love that you took this to fantasy, and metaphor (I think?). The adjustments and getting used to our wings/changes… while the fantasy makes me want to read more. Nice work! I struggled with this one, this week… but always love reading all the outcomes. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much–you picked up on all the bits I was trying to work in 😀 I stepped away from FF for a little while–I was trying to force a story from the images and it just was not the way to go–but I’m back! Hope to see you back on there soon.

      1. Sometimes you have to step away, to get your mojo back. 🙂

I have been submitting for 4 weeks now, and have got the bug. I think I’ll be around for a while! I hope you’ll check out my work, when you get a chance.
