The Starving Activist is the sometimes-home for words. AR Neal (that’s me) finds them, cultivates them, and leaves them here. Enjoy.

100WCGU #78: Of Dreams

This week's prompt caused me to want to go in a variety of directions, such as describing how a child feels when tasting something for the first time, or how a sight-limited person's sense of taste might be heightened. Instead, I went a more traditional route: describing the dream of a lover. For this week's 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups, I offer "Of Dreams:"

Your arms wrap around me and I breathe in your love.We come together like two halves of the same whole, melting into one another as though we have always been this way.I’ve missed you so.I wish you could stay. You begin to fade away; my dreams of you are never long enough anymore.I squeeze my eyes tight, trying to keep you with me—trying to stay with you a little longer.Kisses: lips, eyelids, neck, chest, and beyond. You whisper in my ear as my tongue explores you:You: “What does it taste like?”Me: “Love.”
