The Starving Activist is the sometimes-home for words. AR Neal (that’s me) finds them, cultivates them, and leaves them here. Enjoy.

Velvet Verbosity #321: Body Snatched

Dr. Bennell shook himself awake, knowing it would be the death of him if he didn’t. Although he’d seen what it did to Elizabeth, he had no particular interest in joining the ranks of the recently reborn. He was thankful to have gotten away but was saddened that he had not been strong enough to save her. He’d hoped his hideaway in the sewer would be enough to keep the rest of them away for a while; he shuddered at the thought of how close he’d come. He could still feel the touch of those milky threads on his flesh.

One hundred words written for Velvet Verbosity (the prompt is "milky"), but as an ode to Donald Sutherland and all who gave us the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers
