The Starving Activist is the sometimes-home for words. AR Neal (that’s me) finds them, cultivates them, and leaves them here. Enjoy.

Trifextra, Week Fifty-Eight: Through the Looking Glass

Frederica and Baris were beside themselves as they looked through the one-way glass; Olivia sat in the middle of the padded room, her jaw set like stone. Psychiatric hospitalization was the only option.

I took a bit of liberty with this week's Trifextra prompt. Here, let me walk you through it in case you haven't caught it yet.

  • We were, as usual, directed to use exactly 33 words. Check.
  • The prompt was to give a "response using the word stone as one of your thirty-three words.  You can use any definition of the word that you'd like, but we are specifically looking for serious, well-conceived entries." Check.
  • The good folks there pointed us to the third element on the periodic table (Lithium), for which a very heavy medication is named (therein lies the tie with psychiatry...).
  • Since the Trifecta/Trifextra challenges use a three-fold approach (duh.), I used the names Fredrica, Baris, and Olivia. Click here to see what trait those three names share.
