Daily Prompt: Let's Get Brainical

The Daily Post pixies were trying to get me to work out this morning, but I slipped them a mickey.I didn't turn on my computing device until a little while ago and even then I did some reading before they found me. Once they had me cornered, they asked:

Are writing prompts a useful exercise, or do you find them to be too limiting and/or hokey?

I thoroughly enjoy writing prompts and find them to be excellent exercise. My glutimous brainious gets thoroughly stretched and strengthened when I have to respond in 100 words or less. Sometimes, the workout is extreme even when I have a 300 word limit; the topic sets the tone...

But, as I commented yesterday, I have to put a pause on how many brain workouts I give myself since I have not left enough time for my own writing.

The pixies thought I was trying to get out of their workouts and although I tried to reassure them, it seemed to be to no avail.

I guess I'll have to send them a copy of my best seller in the post.

Once I write it.
