The Starving Activist is the sometimes-home for words. AR Neal (that’s me) finds them, cultivates them, and leaves them here. Enjoy.

Who's This? Blogging 101

It's been a while since I did a Daily Post, but for some reason this one seemed just right. I decided to go with the questions offered (see bold below):What are you about? Why should they read your blog?Wow--that's a punch in the gut for first questions; what am I about and why should anyone read my blog?! Anyone interested in things just off-center, things not-quite-right, things that go bump in the night and day, should read my blog. While I do jump on a few personal passions occasionally, this space primarily contains the stuff of my mind and quill. Frightening, weird, funny, futuristic, sometimes-true, but all mine. If you are a fan of flash fiction and speculative fiction, this is the spot for you!Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?I started blogging publicly when I decided I wanted to publish my writing. I'm an unknown and writers who want to add some credibility to my work must have a regular presence in between their primary works. Also, as a woman of color, I want to get the word out that writing genres are not gender or "race" specific. Each of us brings ourselves and our backgrounds to writing and it validates that we're all on the journey together. What topics do you think you’ll write about?Oh, gimme a subject and I'll write something on it! Right now I'm reworking a submission about spoilers!Who would you love to connect with via your blog?I would love to connect with everyone through my blog. I don't write every day like I did when I got started (if I don't pause to pay the electric and internet service, I won't be able to write at all) but I think what I offer is worth a gander. And if anyone knows anyone who knows anyone who might want to read more of my work, send them over!If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?Success for me means that I did what I said I would do--I committed to writing for my own picture prompts each week. I post about my publications here as well and hope that section continues to grow! Thanks for popping in and write on!
