James' new compatriots eyed him with suspicion from their locations at the corners of the room. "Oh come now, boys," James cajoled. "It's not all that bad, is it? Not having a hard time, are we?" Stony silence from the others and the echo of James' voice were the only replies. James grunted one last time and paused to wipe sweat from his brow once he reached the middle of the room. "So, what have you to say? Nothing? Very interesting. Sammy, Bob -- you two were the loudest before: what now? Nathaniel, you laughed like a loon when they were poking at me but now you're all quiet. Not so funny when you're in a cart as well, is it?" James spun a tight circle to show how well he could get along. "It takes years, gents, but hopefully you'll learn that an invalid cart does not invalidate the person in it."
